What type of 5G connection does WR254 support?
WR254 supports 5G RedCap based on 3GPP Release 17 and is compatible with 5G SA and 4G LTE. It provides four 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for local devices.
Which model should I compare with WR254 when serial ports are needed?
Compare WR254 with WR255 for serial-device integration. WR255 provides one RS232 port, one RS485 port and additional I/O alongside its 5G RedCap connection.
How should WR254 be powered?
WR254 can receive power through its four-pin Molex DC connector or its passive PoE PD interface. The PoE PD interface receives power; it does not supply power to downstream PoE devices. Check the ordered unit’s input rating and use a compatible passive PoE supply before installation.
Can WR254 switch to cellular if its Ethernet WAN fails?
Yes. WR254 supports failover between Ethernet WAN and cellular WAN. Configure the primary and backup connections and the failure-detection policy for your deployment. Existing sessions may need to reconnect when the WAN changes.
Can WR254 support VPN access and industrial data communication?
Yes. WR254 supports WireGuard, OpenVPN and IPsec for VPN access, as well as Modbus TCP client/server and MQTT broker, publisher and gateway functions. Configure VPN routing and the required device data mapping for your application.
